THE WINDOW CORNER
01 / A LIVING STUDY

FIRST, THE LIGHT. THEN, THE PLANT.

One room. Three possibilities.

This example starts with bright, filtered daylight beside a window. Three candidates for that setting; three ways to grow into the composition.

Illustrative light brief—not a measurement from the image. Your shortlist starts with the light at the actual planting position, window direction, shading and seasonal changes.

Soft & feathery.

Parlor palm · Chamaedorea elegans. A fine-textured, gentle accent for a quiet corner.

SAME ROOM · SAME LIGHT
Three illustrative stages of a parlor palm in the same neutral living room
PARLOR PALM / ESTABLISHED

A room that feels settled.

An established specimen brings presence now, with space for the canopy to develop.

THE COMPOSITION, FROM EVERY ANGLE

Give it breathing room.

The canopy is part of the furniture plan. Consider its width as carefully as its height.

01 / OVERHEADKeep circulation open as the canopy fills out.
02 / SOFA-WALL ELEVATIONBalance the living silhouette with the room’s lines.

AI concept images and schematic drawings, not a client photograph, measured floor plan or live AR. Stages illustrate possible size and character—not a growth timetable or a promise of a particular final shape. Nursery form, care, pruning and conditions affect the result. Planter size changes with the plant; final placement and clearances are checked against your room.

Plant selection notes

Each room has its own illustrative light brief. The images do not measure light. Real project recommendations also consider care, household safety, available specimens and seasonal light.

NC State: parlor palm · RHS: kentia palm · NC State: corn plant

Dining-room candidates: NC State: rubber plant · NC State: fiddle-leaf fig · kentia palm above. Bedroom candidates: parlor palm above · NC State: cast iron plant · NC State: ZZ plant.

Corn plant, ZZ plant and the ficus options need particular consideration around pets and children because ingestion or sap can be harmful. Include household needs in the brief. Tolerating gentler light does not mean thriving without daylight; growth may be slower.
